The bed and breakfast "ariabuona" is a great base to visit some of Italy 's most beautiful tourist attractions. Either with your own car or with public transportation. Just 3 minutes from the house you have your choice of catching a bus to any of the closer attractions, or a train for those further away. There is plenty of parking there.

It doesn't take long to find yourself strolling down the “Via dell'Amore” which takes you from one town to the other in the truly unique Cinque Terre. (Cinque Terre means five lands and is a string of 5 towns along the very steep coast of the southern Italian Riviera.) You can choose the train from La Spezia or a ferry-boat from either La Spezia or Lerici. Also close by is Sarzana, a small city with a well kept historic centre in which streets an antique market is held during the first 2 weeks of August.

For a day's outing you can easily reach Pisa , with it's leaning tower and Carrara , with it's marble mountains. The Versilia area, offers beaches and discos alongside of cultural events such as La Versiliana. The Roman ruins of Luni are quite close and from there you can head into the Lunigiana with it's medievale villages and castles. In just one hour by car you can be in the town of Torre del Lago Puccini, where the Puccini Festival is held in an open air theatre on the shores of Lake Massaciuccoli.

For those who want to venture further, either by train or by highway, Lucca is 75 kms away, Genova 100 km , Parma 108 km and Florence 140km.
